Meaning of Christmas

Now is the time of the year where everybody’s jolly and happy. It’s also the season of giving and everybody’s feeling the holiday spirit. But does everyone really understand the true meaning of Christmas?

It’s not about the gifts that you’ll receive. It’s not about the vacation that you wanted for so long. It’s about the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. Who was the word, who’s in the beginning with God (John 1:1). For God so love us that He gave His only begotten Son to come to the world (John 3:16). He came here not to condemn us but to save us (John 3:17) from the sin that keeps us away from our Father.  The Word became flesh and became one of us to understand us (John 1:14) and our advocate to the Father (1 John 2:1). He was born of the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:26-38) so that he will not get the original sin that Adam and Eve had. In the old testament, people used to sacrifice animals through their blood for God. When Jesus was in the world, he was sinless from birth to death. He became the ultimate sacrifice that paid our sins (Hebrews 4:15). So that through Him, we will be saved (John 14:6).

Jesus Christ’s being born into the world is a symbol of God’s love for us. He came into the world not to be served but to serve (Matthew 20:28). I know the joy and excitement you feel when you receive gifts during this time of the year, but nothing is compared to joy when God gave us a gift and that is our savior, Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas and God bless you and your family!
